Simple Objects Object

The Simple Objects object enables the user to create simple shapes by combining a group of basic geometries within GeoScene3D. Geometries are cube, sphere, cylinder, etc. Each of the geometries can be scaled, rotated and colored individually. For advanced object editing other software like 3D Studio Max or Sketchup should be used.

General Tab

The settings on the general tab affects the group of geometries as a whole.
Name: Object name as seen in the Object Manager
Visible: Show/Hide the object

Position (Object)
Position in the scene of the object

Scale (Object)
Scale in X, Y, and Z directions for the object.

Rotation (Object)
Rotation of the object around all three axes. Note that these axes are the local object axes. When the object is initially placed in the scene the object axes are parallel to the scene axis.

Material (Object)
Opacity: Degree of opacity. 1=fully opaque, 0=fully transparent (enabled when Blending Mode = Transparency)
Color: Color
Advanced: Shows the advanced Material Editor

Geometries Tab

Geometries are added, deleted, and configured. The settings in the lower portion of the form affects the selected geometry in the list. The list shows the geometries that make up the complete object. Each geometry is named.

Add…: Adds a new geometry using the Simple Geometry Editor.
Edit…: Edits an existing geometry using the Simple Geometry Editor.
Delete: Deletes the selected geometry.
Visible: Set visible for selected geometry

Position (Geometry)
Relative position of the geometry within the object.

Scale (Geometry)
Scale in X, Y, and Z directions for the geometry.

Rotation (Geometry)
Rotation of the geometry around all three axes. Note that these axes are the local geometry axes. When the object is initially placed in the object the geometry axes are parallel to the object axis.

Settings (Geometry)
Each geometry type has it own set of settings. These settings are self explanatory and will not be described further.

Material (Geometry)
Opacity: Degree of opacity. 1=fully opaque, 0=fully transparent (enabled when Blending Mode = Transparency)
Color: Color
Advanced: Shows the advanced Material Editor
