Signs Object
With the signs object a group of signs can be placed in the scene. A sign consists of a text that is placed on a pole. The pole is placed at an XYZ position or at a surface. The signs constantly faces the camera in the current viewer.
Warning: Showing a large number of signs may slow down performance considerably.
General Tab
Name: Object name as seen in the Object Manager
Visible: Show/Hide the object
Visible Distance: Beyond this distance signs are not visible. This distance should be short to improve performance.
Symbol Type: A simple symbol can be shown at the base of the sign. Select type in the drop down list.
Poles
Visible: If checked a pole (cylinder) is showing from the XYZ point to the sign text.
Height: Height of pole from the XYZ position or surface to the text.
Radius: Radius of the pole.
Background
Visible: If checked a plane is shown as background to the text.
Color: Background color.
Text
Text Height: Text height
Background Offset: Distance between background and pole to the text. This value must be above zero.

Color: Select text color
Scale: Scale for text. For smaller signs set a value less than one.
Fit To Surface
Active: When checked and a surface is selected in the “Available Surfaces” drop down all the signs are fitted to that surface. The fitting is purely visual - the data are not changed.
Available Surfaces: Available surfaces in the project that can be used for fitting.
Data Tab
Dataset: Select a tabular dataset.
Text Field Name (in above dataset): In addition to X and Y that are required in tabular datasets the dataset should also contain a text field. Select the field that should be used for text in the signs in the drop down.
