Light Source Object

Light sources are used to shade objects (except surface objects) to enhance the visual impression of 3D space in the scene. By default lighting is enabled in all 3D objects, but you may choose to disable shading in individual objects. A light source object is an object just like other objects in the scene and can be placed at any position in the scene. You may add multiple light sources to the scene and turn individual light sources on and off.

In 3D the light source object is symbolized with a yellowish sphere. The light source may be moved by typing a coordinate in the editor or dragging the light source directly in 3D or in a map. It is hard to supply good default values for lighting. You will have to experiment a little to achieve a good result. Lighting 3D objects in OpenGL is a complex topic and cannot be described in detail here.

Name: Object name as seen in the Object Manager
Visible: Show/Hide the visual light source 3D symbol object
Shining: If checked the light source is switched on
Radius: Radius of visual sphere in 3D

Brightness
Sets the intensity of the red, green, and blue components of the light. By modifying the color components the color of objects that are lit by the light source change slightly. Press Reset to restore default white light.

Position
Type the position of the light source here or drag in XY-plane in 3D. Light source position may also be moved in maps.
