LARCOS Replace points tool
Preparetion
Draw the model areas on the map by Digitize a Region or use shape files and convert to regions like this Create a region from a Shapefile.
Step-by-step workflow
From the Main menu open the Tool
- Choose the overwrite area definition:
- Overlap: overwrite only interpretation points located within the overlap between the source and destination areas.
- All: overwrite all interpretation points in the source area.
- Select the one or two model areas.
- Optionally select an exclude area. Interpretation points located inside this area will not be deleted and none will be inserted.
- Select the source interpretation database containing the interpretation points to copy.
- Select the destination interpretation database where the interpretation points will be overwritten within the selected area. Existing interpretation points in the destination database will be deleted, and interpretation points from the source database within the selected area will be inserted in the destiantion database.
- The tool checks that the source and destination interpretation databases contain matching tables with the same names and EPSGs. The EPSG for the points is shown in paranthesis after the table name, e.g. (25832).
- Select the tables.
- Choose whether to create a backup of the destination interpretation database before replacing interpretation points.
- Run the replacement or backup-and-replacement process.
- Existing interpretation points in the destination interpretation database are overwritten with the corresponding interpretation points from the source interpretation database for the selected area and tables, except for interpretation points inside the selected exclude area.
Using Overlap/All and exclude area
Use case 1: Overlap of Area 1 and Area 2 and using an exclude area:
Overlap: All destination points (blue) in the overlap are deleted from the destination database. Then all points from the source database (green) within the overlap are inserted into the destination database. The resulting points in the destination database are now these:
All: All destination points (blue) in the source area are deleted from the destination database. Then all points from the source database (green) are inserted into the destination database. The resulting points in the destination database are now these:
Use case 2: Source and destination model areas overlap, and an exclude area is used:
Overlap with exclude area: All destination points (blue) in the overlap are deleted from the destination database, except points located inside the exclude area. Then all points from the source database (green) within the overlap are inserted into the destination database, except points located inside the exclude area.
Points inside the exclude area are not changed.
