-:_+====== Using the Toolbox ======
 +
 +The GeoScene3D Toolbox offers various tools for manipulating data that are commonly used in GeoScene3D. In the current version most tools operate on grid files.
 +
 +The Toolbox is available from the main file menu or the main toolbar. Although the Toolbox is started from within GeoScene3D the Toolbox can be seen as a stand alone application. In future versions it is indeed planned to make the Toolbox a stand alone application.
 +
 +It is important to note that the Toolbox operates directly on source files. Changes done to files using the Toolbox will not show in GeoScene3D until the objects using changed data files are refreshed.
 +
 +The Toolbox user interface contains a list box of items to the left and a map to the right.
 +
 +NoteOperations performed in the Toolbox never changes the original files listed in the items list box, __ unless __ the user actively chooses to overwrite one of these files.
 +==== Items List box ====
 +
 +The items list box contains the items that are used in operations
 +
 +  * Operations are performed on the items __ selected __  in the list box.
 +  * Items __ checked __  in the list box are shown in the map
 +
 +When selecting one or multiple items in the list box the available operations for that selection are enabled. This means that the user has to know what he wants to do. See the description of each operation. Operations are available in the main menu and the list box context menu.
 +
 +File items may be added to the list box using an open file dialog. If the Toolbox has been started from within GeoScene3D (always in the current version), it is also possible to add certain items directly from the current GeoScene3D project.
 +
 +**Item Types ** \\ __2D Grid Files:__  Various 2D grid files (Surfer ASCII and Binary formats, ArcInfo ASCII Grid). See also [[:geoscene3d:toolbox:toolbox_layers:toolbox_grid_layer|]]. \\
 +__3D Grid Files:__  GeoScene3D Grid file (*.grd3) for both floating point and discrete values \\ __CSV Files (geometry):__  CSV Files containing the columns: X;Y;Z;Value. Points from CSV files may be used as either points, lines or polygons. See also [[:geoscene3d:toolbox:toolbox_layers:toolbox_csv_file_layer|]]. \\
 +__Regions (geometry):__  Region objects from the current GeoScene3D project (polygon) \\ __Profiles (geometry):__  Profile objects from the current GeoScene3D project (polyline)
 +
 +**Actions Associated with the items list box ** \\ __Add Files…:__  Adds files from a local disk or network location. \\ __Add Files From Source Manager…:__  Adds files from the current GeoScene3D project \\ __Add Region Objects…:__  Adds region objects from the current GeoScene3D project \\ __Add Profile Objects…:__  Adds profile objects from the current GeoScene3D project \\ __Remove Selected Items:__  Removes items from the list box and the associated map layer. \\ __Properties:__  Some item types has an associated property editor. This is the case for [[:geoscene3d:toolbox:toolbox_layers:toolbox_grid_layer|grid layers]] and [[:geoscene3d:toolbox:toolbox_layers:toolbox_csv_file_layer|csv file layers]]. \\
 +__Open In Text Editor:__  Some items representing files may be viewed or edited in a text editor. If Textpad is installed this application will be used. If not the standard Windows Notepad will be used. \\ __Show Map Layers:__  Show map layers for the selected items \\ __Hide Map Layers:__  Hide map layers for the selected items \\ __Color Scale…:__  Opens the [[:geoscene3d:application:misc:color_scale_editor|]] for selected item. \\
 +__Load Color Scale…:__  Loads a color scale to all the selected items. \\ __Symbols…:__  Open the [[:geoscene3d:application:misc:symbol_list_editor|]] for the selected items. \\
 +__Load Symbols…:__  Loads symbols to all the selected items.
 +
 +**Grid Operations ** \\ Most grid operations operates on both 2D and 3D grids. When working with 2D grids the elevation is used, when working with 3D grids the node value is used. \\ [[:geoscene3d:toolbox:toolbox_grid_operations:convert_grid_value_type|]] \\
