Setup Model Data Wizard

The Setup Model Data Wizard makes it easy to add multiple objects and datasets for geological modelling in a project. After objects and datasets are defined in the wizard they are automatically created and added to the project.

After objects and databases have been added the objects and databases may be configured manually using the object editors, the Dataset Manager and the Source Manager.

NOTE: When adding objects and datasets in the “Setup Model Data Wizard” it is important to define an area of interest or a project area and not only the scene extent area.

====
Model Type Page ====

The geological model type is defined.

Point and Surface Model : The wizard defines multiple point tables and objects with names and colors. The wizard also creates the necessary empty surface grids and solid layers.

Surface Model: The wizard defines multiple surface objects with names, colors and node spacing. The wizard creates surface objects, grid datasets and save blank grid files.

3D Grid Model/ Voxel Model: The wizard defines 3D grid objects with names and symbols. The wizard creates 3D grids, grid datasets and save blank grid files.

====
Point Database Page ====

In the point database page a new point database is created or an existing point database is selected.

Create New XYZ Point Database: A new database is defined and the wizard will create new tables in the new database.
Use Existing XYZ Point Database: An existing XYZ Point Database is selected
Add New Tables: Add new tables to the existing database
Use Existing Tables: Use existing tables in the existing database.
View Existing Tables…: Show the existing tables in the existing database.

====
XYZ Points Page ====

In the XYZ Points page the XYZ Point objects are defined with names and colors. Point objects, tabular datasets and surfaces will all share the same names and colors defined in the XYZ Points page.

Add: Add new XYZ Point object definition
Insert: Insert new XYZ Point object definition
Delete: Delete selected XYZ Point object definition
Do Not Use: Do not create point object for this existing table
Import: Import layer definitions from file
Export: Export layer definitions to file

==== Interpolation Page ====

In the interpolation page the interpolation settings are defined.

Configure Interpolation Settings: These settings will be used to interpolate the associated surface objects.

See Interpolation Wizard Tabs

====
Surfaces Page ====

In the Surface Page the surface objects are defined with names and colors. Surface objects and grid datasets will share the same names and colors.

Add: Add new Surface object definition
Insert: Insert new Surface object definition
Delete: Delete selected Surface object definition
Import: Import layer definitions from file
Export: Export layer definitions to file

====
3D Grids Page ====

In the 3D Grids Page the 3D grid object names for the model are defined. 3D objects and datasets will share the same name.

Add: Add new 3D Grid object definition
Insert: Insert new 3D Grid object definition
Delete: Delete selected 3D Grid object definition
Import: Import layer definitions from file
Export: Export layer definitions to file

3D grids can be defined as either floating point grids (single value using colorscale) or discrete value grids (multiple symbol values).
Floating Point Grid: The node values are changed numerically.
Discrete Value Grid : The values are changed by assigning a symbol from a symbol list. ====
Colorscale Page ====

In the colorscale page the colorscale for the surface objects are defined. All surface objects will be assigned the same colorscale.

Select/Edit Colorscale…: Select or edit a color scale in the “Color Scale Editor”.

See Color Scale Editor

====
Symbols Page - (Discrete Value Grid) ====

In the Symbols Page a symbol list is defined for the created discrete value grids. All grids will be assigned the same symbol list.
Select/Edit Symbols…: Select a predefined symbol list.

To add, insert, delete, clear or sort symbols in the symbol list see Symbol List Editor.

====
Grid Geometry Page ====

In the geometry grid tab the size and geometry of the resulting grids is defined.

Grid Extent (corner node coordinates)
Enter the min and max X, Y, and Z coordinates of the resulting grid.
Adjust: Adjusts (rounds) grid extent to the selected node spacing and node count. Max = min + (node spacing * node count).
Scene Extent: Sets grid extent to the current scene extent.

Node Spacing
Distance between grid nodes in X, Y, and Z directions. Node spacing is a function of the side length of the grid and the number of nodes. Example: X node spacing = X side length / (X node count - 1). Note: 2D grids must have equal node spacing in X and Y.

Node Count
Number of grid nodes in X, Y, and Z directions.

Grid Info
Information about width, height, depth, and number of nodes in the resulting grid.

NOTE: When adding objects and datasets in the “Setup Model Data Wizard” it is important to define an area of interest or a project area and not only the scene extent area.

====
Grid Directory Page ====

In the grid directory page the output directory for the grid files is defined.

====
Solid Layers Page ====

In the solid layers tab solid layers using surfaces as top and bottom are created and defined.

Create Solid Layers: Check if solid layers should be created
Create Top Layer Using Terrain As Top: Defines the surface of top solid layer to use terrain
Create Infinite Bottom Layer: Defines an infinite bottom layer using last surface as bottom

Top or Bottom
Surface is Layer Bottom: The color of the solid layers are defined from the bottom surface layer (recommended).
Surface is Layer Top: The color of the solid layers are defined from the top surface layer.

====
Groups Page ====

In the groups page the target group objects in object manager are selected for the created objects.

XYZ Point Objects Group Name: Name for the XYZ Point Objects Group. Default is “Points”
Surface Object Group Name: Name for the Surface Object Group Name. Default is “surface”
3D Grids Group Name: Name for the 3D Grids Group Name. Default is “3D Grids”
Solid Layers Grids Group Name: Name for the Solid Layers Grids Group Name. Default is “layers”

====
Finish Page ====

In the finish page a summery of all created objects, datasets and files is shown.
