The web service is a general purpose database for storing various types of data and complete projects. The database is accessed through a web service on the internet.
Currently there is only one active database hosted by I-GIS at this address: http://85.81.175.246/GSWS/service.asmx
User Accounts
Currently all users can log on to the I-GIS hosted database with user name “GSPublic” and password left blank.
Projects
Complete projects can be opened directly from the GeoScene3D user interface in the File menu or from Welcome dialog. A project is selected in the Select From Web Service dialog. When the project has been downloaded it is opened as if it was a local project. However, in must cases the original source data used to create the project will not be available, and therefore it is not possible to refresh data and move the scene extent.
In the future it will also be possible to upload projects via the GeoScene3D user interface. Until then contact I-GIS if you want to add a project to the database.
Data
The web service may serve as a source for datasets used in GeoScene3D projects as if it was a local database or file. When the data is refreshed or the scene extent is moved the dataset reads new data from the web service. When used as a data source the web service is added as a source in the Source Manager.
