Objects

The 3D objects shown in the scene represent data of various types. Objects have a number of common properties.

Each object is positioned in 3D space using the global X, Y, and Z axes (easting, northing, elevation) of the scene. In addition to the scene coordinate system each object has a local coordinate system. Some objects may be rotated around each of the three axes in the local coordinate system.

Each object (or group of objects) are represented by a node in the Object Manager. Each object type has its own property editor that is accessible through the context menu in the Object Manager, or simply by double clicking the context menu of the Object, the object in the 3D window or in a profile window.

Objects are organized in a tree like or hierarchical structure. In scenes with many data it is convenient to organize related data in groups. Group objects own their child objects. Turning a parent object off also turns off all its child objects.

Although not required it is strongly recommended that objects of one type have unique names within one project.
