The map shows the checked items in the items list box. When an item in the list box is checked it is visible in the map. However, items does not need to be visible in the map to be used in operations.
When checking a list box item the associated layer is created and placed on top of all other layers in the map. When an item is unchecked the layer is completely removed from the map. The Layer Manager is used to control the order and visual appearance of layers. Hiding a layer with the Layer Manager will not remove the layer from the map.
Actions Associated with the map
Layer Manager…: Shows the Layer Manager.
Add External Layer…: Adds a GIS file directly from disk or network location, e.g., ESRI Shape file or MapInfo Tab files.
Default Select Tool: Activates the default pointer and box select tool
Pan Tool: Activates the pan tool
Rectangle Zoom Tool: Activates the rectangle zoom tool. Drag from top-left to lower-right to zoom in. Drag from lower-right to upper-left to zoom out.
Dynamic Zoom Tool: Activates the dynamic zoom tool. Move the mouse down and up to zoom in and out respectively while pressing the left mouse button.
Full Extent: Zoom the map to full data extent
Digitizer Tool: Activates the digitizer tool. Use the digitizer tool to digitize XY-coordinates and save them in a csv file. While active click the map with the mouse to add points.
Save Digitized Points…: Saves the digitized points to a csv file. After saving the file it is added to the items list box.
Delete Last Digitized Point: Deletes the last digitized point
Clear Digitized Points From Screen…: Clear all digitized points
Print…: Shows the Print Map dialog
