====== Import from points ====== //This tutorial shows how to make a layer boundary from XYZ points. Points from an existing XYZ point object is imported into interpretations point database table. // **__Requirements:__ ** * XYZ points * Interpretation points ---- ==== Step 1. Import XYZ points ==== 1. See [[:geoscene3d:building_a_layered_model:modelsetup-stepbystep|Setting up Data for Modelling]]. * The terrain and the XYZ points can be visualized in the 3D window and the profile. This XYZ points will be used to create the layer boundary for L1. {{:geoscene3d:building_a_layered_model:databasetools:3dwindow_points.png?nolink&}} * In the GeoScene3D project there is a bar for editing the different surfaces and points. 2. Click the point layer you want to create using XYZ points. {{:geoscene3d:building_a_layered_model:databasetools:edittools.png?nolink&}} 3. "Actions…" –> "Database Tools" –> "Import from Points". {{:geoscene3d:building_a_layered_model:databasetools:importpoints.png}} 4. "Points Database: XYZ Points". Also give a name for the "Import Description" –> Import. {{:geoscene3d:building_a_layered_model:databasetools:pointsdatabase.png?nolink&}} 5. If the "Attributes Table" is clicked all information about the XYZ points will appear. {{:geoscene3d:building_a_layered_model:databasetools:attributes_table.png?nolink&}} * Here the value of import description can be seen. It has been named "Import_XYZ_L1". {{:geoscene3d:building_a_layered_model:databasetools:importdescription.png?nolink&}} 5. In the "XYZ Points Editor" a small icon can be clicked {{:geoscene3d:building_a_layered_model:databasetools:icon_interpolation_point_update.png?nolink&}}when points are ready for interpolation or if the grid needs to be updated after the edit of points –> “stop edit session” {{:geoscene3d:building_a_layered_model:databasetools:icon_stopeditsession.png?nolink&}}. * When the icon is clicked the L1 surface can be visualized. * Note the buffer in the profile has been lowered for L1 compared to the buffer for the XYZ points. If the buffer value was the same, the interpolated points would overlap the XYZ points. {{:geoscene3d:building_a_layered_model:databasetools:l1profile.png?nolink&}}
